Areas: making of paintings sketches street art
Over the weekend I was invited to do some street art on the walls of The Belfry by the Newcastle arts festival. The Belfry is a former church that had been developed into an indoor skateboard park (Skate 56) situated in the heart of Newcastle, county Down.
I had an idea of making a face out of a landscape with the mountains forming the beard, but I was concerned of how I was going make the form of the moustache (see sketches below). On approaching Newcastle I saw the 3 peaks of the Mourne Mountains and knew exactly what I was going to draw. It then dawned on me how fitting my idea was to Newcastle.

Areas: exhibitions paintings
The Orchard art group, an art collective formed in the Orchard building of Strandmillis college, organize a small exhibition for its members each year.
As a member of the collective for 5 years now I find the exhibition is a great opportunity to stand back and celebrate how each member has progressed in his or her artistic journey.
This year we held the exhibition in the Holywood Arches Library exhibiting the recent work of Maureen Cousley, Harriet Ennis, Uel Hardy, Vivienne Keatley, David McClelland, Alison Moth, Diana Oxlade, Edwin Oxlade and Claire M Wright.
The exhibition will continue until Friday 5th August 2011, the library opening time are as follows:
Monday and Thursday 1.30 - 8.00pm
Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9.30 - 5.30pm
Thank you to everyone that managed to get down to the opening last night, I really appreciated it.
