Areas: making of paintings portraits street art
On Friday 23rd September 2011, over 20,000 people descend on the city of Belfast for Culture Night Belfast, its annual creative showcase event.
I along with my art collective - The VENT Collective transformed Rosemary Street into an interactive street performance of the hit 80’s TV game show Catchphrase.
Throughout the day people had the opportunity to take part in the performance by trying to guess the catchphrases and get their picture taken with our own ‘Roy Walker’.
Thanks to everyone that took part in the event and to the Culture Night Team for making it happen.
Below I’ve included photos from the making of the ‘Roy Walker’ cutout along with some photos from the night itself.

Last night I was at the Crescent Arts Centre to hear the launch of the Mark McKnight’s most recent album “Do or Die”, which I designed the album cover for.
With Ross Stanley on the organ, Mark Mcknight on guitar, John Maddren on the drums and Seamus Blake on the saxophone it was an enjoyable night of jazz.
Below are some brush and ink sketches I did at the evening.

On Tuesday evening I had the pleasure to attend the Literary Belfast gala at the Ulster Hall. The evening marked the official launch of a series of new initiatives to highlight the city’s rich literary heritage.
Some of the biggest Northern Irish writers were gathered together to read from their works punctuated by some beautiful music.
Below are some brush and ink sketches I did at the evening.

Areas: portraits sketches viewpoint
It’s always good practice for an artist to sketch people, but life-drawing classes tend to be quite expensive at the moment. My solution- sketch people off the television, making an activity that tends to be seen as unproductive into a productive activity that’s guilt free and fun.
Below are some sketches from my favourite television programmes.
